Mik has taught professionally since 2000. He works as a guitar teacher for Kirklees Music School. He also helped developed pop music in the classroom by developing a key stage 2 hourly lesson project. He works with individuals and large groups from beginner to expert.
In 2009 he became a lecturer at The University of Huddersfield where he teaches Instrumental lessons for students on the Pop Performance segment of the BA Honours Degree. He also leads the Guitar Orchestra group which consists of orchestrating songs and classical pieces for 11 + guitar players. In recent years the group has performed Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and Alice Coopers haunting ballad Steven to name but a few. In February he ran a University Master Class named 'Virtuosic Guitar in Practice' where he spoke of advanced playing techniques and the theoretic approach to expanding a players technique. He spoke at length about spiritual aspects and the importance of positive thinking to achieve greater performance skills. There was an in-depth look at improvisational composition and structuring solo work in a pressured environment. What could be achieved by using patterns and phrasing.
